About the event

LMHANJ is proud to partner with the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) for an important and timely conversation on the lived experience of dementia within the Latino community. Dementia disproportionately affects Latino adults, who are diagnosed at higher rates and often face unique cultural, linguistic, and systemic barriers to care. These challenges deeply impact not only individuals, but also the caregivers who support them every day.

This panel will amplify the voices of those living with dementia and their loved ones—an essential step in reducing stigma, increasing understanding, and addressing the mental health impacts of this condition across families and communities.

Co-moderated by Paula Muller, PhD, Founder of CareLink360 and Project Lead of Calling All the Voices, Stories from the Latino Community, Sponsored by the Dementia Action Alliance and Angela P. Vargas, PhD, LMHANJ President the discussion will feature powerful perspectives from individuals and caregivers living with dementia each day:

  • Myra Solano Garcia

  • Carlos Olivas III

  • Juan Carlos Zaldivar

Join us for an honest, humanizing, and deeply needed dialogue that illuminates both the challenges and the resilience within our community. We hope you’ll be part of this conversation—your presence helps strengthen awareness, compassion, and collective action.
