Kathy Acosta, LCSW

Kathy Acosta is a licensed clinical social worker based in New Jersey with a specialized focus on trauma. She is committed to helping clients break cycles of trauma, with a focus on healing from interpersonal violence and generational wounds. As a proud first-generation Latina raised by a mother from Honduras, Kathy brings a deep commitment to empowering first-generation adults through culturally responsive and trauma-informed care.


She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey and a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University, where she specialized in Law and Social Work. Before entering the clinical field, Kathy built a successful career in business and nonprofit management—experience that continues to shape her entrepreneurial approach and dedication to community care.


Kathy is the Founder and CEO of HERO Counseling Center, a thriving group practice in Ridgewood, NJ. She is also the CEO of Hero Consultations, where she provides business coaching to therapists launching and growing their private practices. Additionally, she founded the Latinx Practice Collective, a membership-based community that supports Latinx clinicians in building sustainable and values-driven businesses.


Kathy currently serves on the board of the Latino Mental Health Association of New Jersey (LMHANJ) and the New Jersey Association of Women Therapists (NJAWT).
