Apollonia Pinzas is a 4th year graduate student at Felician University in the Master of ArtsCounseling Psychology Program. She is employed at the Division of Child Protection andPermanency as an intake worker in Hudson county. As a first-generation Latina Apollonia ispassionate about working with displaced families, and to provide safe spaces for them. Also, sheis passionate about providing education on mental health to the Latinx community because of thestigma associated with mental illness. She has 12 years of experience working with children andfamilies at nonprofit and state levels. Apollonia has learned how to navigate the mental healthsystem, medical care system, and how to provide support to children and their families so theycan excel, especially individuals who are undocumented. She brings knowledge of the ChildrenSystem of Care in New Jersey, personal experience of being a first-generation Latina, as wellpassion and ambition for education and mental health.
